Our Mission
The mission of Calico Kids Preschool is to provide a safe, affordable, quality preschool program for Sioux City and the surrounding communities. We offer programs for children ages 3 to 5 in an environment where they are encouraged to develop at their own pace. The staff is committed to the families served by providing support, information, and encouragement. We are dedicated to providing a quality and diverse education that creates lifelong learners through a partnership with parents, teachers and the community.

Our Beliefs
- All children, including those with special needs and second language learners, benefit from a developmentally appropriate preschool program
- Social-emotional readiness is critical to children's success in school and in life, and is therefore an important part of our program

Our Program
Calico Kids Preschool is located in the Mayflower Congregational Church on Sioux City's west side and has been in operation for over 30 years. Although we are located in a church, Calico Kids Preschool is a non-religious based program and is open to all children.
The program at Calico Kids Preschool offers your child a safe, loving and stimulating environment appropriate for their skill level. Our program participates in Iowa's Quality Rating System (QRS) and has achieved a 5-star rating. Our program has also achieved a 3-star rating from the Iowa Quality for Kids (IQ4k). Five stars is the highest level of quality that can be achieved. By receiving this status, we have verified that we provide a high quality care and education program for young children.
We also have partnered with Sioux City's Preschool Initiative Program to provide free preschool to qualifying four-year-old children. Preschool Initiative is a cooperative of preschool providers that are committed to high quality preschool services for four-year-old children in our community. Children who attend a Preschool Initiative classroom are guaranteed instruction from a licensed teacher who holds at least a bachelors degree in the area of preschool instruction. Additionally, a state-endorsed curriculum (Creative Curriculum) is used to prepare children for kindergarten. Our staff are highly trained and dedicated to providing a quality preschool experience for your child.
Registration
Registration is open year-round. If you are interested in registering your child for preschool, click on the button below to fill out a pre-registration form. We will contact you soon to let you know if we have any openings and to help you finish the registration process.
